Note: One-way rentals abroad are not permitted. All trips must be round-trip journeys returning to the UK.

How to Book a Vehicle for European Travel

1. Book as usual (request travel abroad in the comments box when booking online or over the telephone for your quote).
   Reserve your car, van, or minibus through the “Book Now” option or by calling:

2. Arrange the VE103R Form (mandatory)
   Contact your chosen branch at least 10 days before the rental start date to complete a VE103R form (required for taking any UK-registered hire vehicle abroad).
   • The Hirer + up to 2 additional drivers can be named on this form.
   • Provide full names and home addresses when arranging completion.
3. Ensure all travel requirements are met (hirer’s responsibility)
   The hirer must obtain and provide proof of the following before the rental begins:
   • EU Roadside Assistance and Breakdown Cover (must cover the entire rental period abroad)
   • Recovery & Return Costs: Full liability for any vehicle costs associated with recovery, or repatriation to the UK mainland.
   • Liability Waiver: The hirer must sign an indemnity agreement that exempts Duncan Self Drive from responsibility for any claims, expenses, or liabilities related to the recovery of any vehicle, on hire, outside of the UK mainland.
4. Travel Equipment Requirements
   Drivers must supply (at their own expense) any legally required equipment for driving in Europe, which can include but not limited too:
   • GB or UK stickers
   • High-visibility vests
   • Light deflectors
   • Alcohol breathalysers (in some countries)
5. European Travel Coverage Charge
   Standard UK rental deposits and terms still apply (typically £250/ £500 pre-authorisation per vehicle)
6. Vehicle Types Available
   From Duncan Self Drive’s fleet:
   • Cars: e.g. MG3, Toyota Aygo X, Vauxhall Corsa, Nissan Qashqai, Toyota RAV4
   • Vans: Small to Luton box vans
   • Minibuses: Multi-seater options for group travel
   All rentals include:
   
   • Full-to-full fuel policy
   • Clean vehicle condition requirement on return
   • Up to 1,000 miles per 7-day hire (10p/mile thereafter)
